It's September! Choruses are holding auditions and having open rehearsals and starting their new seasons. Music students are starting their fall semesters, and bemoaning the amount of work they've been assigned just in their first week back. Exciting times! But since everything is just getting rolling, not a lot of choral music.
I can find one exception. On Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 pm, Calliope (which describes itself as "Boston's Collaborative Choral/Orchestral Experience") is presenting "The History of Music via a Tour of the World." They will be performing music from Japan, Latin America, the U.S., Africa and Europe. (If I am going to be honest, this sounds like a pretty broad and unfocused topic for a concert program, but all power to them - if someone goes, report back to me on how it works!)
And if you are interested in musical theater, you can see Into the Woods at MIT, or Follies at the Lyric Stage.
