Weekend Concert Calendar, 6/19/08

Summer has truly hit - the choral offerings are slimming down. Luckily, the choral summer sings are also getting off the ground.

Saturday:

I don't find any concerts listed on Friday or Saturday, but on Saturday the Harvard Summer School Chorus is holding auditions from 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm at Holden Chapel in Harvard Yard.

Sunday:

On Sunday Exsultemus will be repeating their program from Wednesday at 6 pm down in Old Lyme, CT. Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Road. Take a road trip!

Coming up next week, on Tuesday, the Wilshire Baptist Church Youth Choir & Shekinah from Dallas, TX will be on the Noon Concert Series at King's Chapel. They will present "With a Voice of Singing"- music by Vivaldi, Rutter, and many more. Suggested donation is $3, and the concert will be under an hour. (The concert actually starts at 12:15 pm.)

Also on Tuesday at 8 pm, Masterworks Chorale will present a Summer Sing of the Brahms' Requiem. National Heritage Museum, Marrett Road and Massachusetts Ave, Lexington, MA.

In blog notes, I have been playing both with the layout of the blog and my blog feeds. Feedback is appreciated (particularly reports of problems, or opinions on whether you like your blog feeds long or short.)

  3. @ Abby:

That's the night before I leave for my brother's wedding, so I think I'll pass. But thank you for commenting with all the information about it!

  4. Ah, the great days of Kings! What people don't realise (and which your interview alluded to) was that we choral-scholars (very ex, in my case) had to remain in college long after everybody else had fled for the vacation, in order to sing the Christmas and Easter services. Without tutorials, lectures and the like we occupied ourselves providing entertainments for the Cambridge public. And out of such was born the KS!
